PteroWhite® 90%, derived from pterostilbene, a stable analogue of resveratrol found in red sandalwood, blueberries, and grapes, is a natural ingredient with properties that address localized hyper-pigmentation, brighten the skin, and function as an antioxidant, free radical scavenger, and anti-inflammatory agent. When used at 0.1% to 0.5% in water-based or emulsified skin products, it demonstrates its benefits.
PteroWhite® 90%, available as a 90% active powder, works by inhibiting melanin synthesis and tyrosinase production, promoting an even skin tone and reducing hyper-pigmentation. As a potent free radical scavenger and antioxidant, it effectively inhibits lipid peroxidation in cells, surpassing kojic acid or resveratrol in in vitro tests. Additionally, as an anti-inflammatory, it inhibits cytokines and COX-2 enzymes, proving to be more effective in vitro than resveratrol. Despite being water-insoluble (soluble in ethanol), it is safe and non-irritating when used up to 0.5%, and it should be added in the final phase of formulating at temperatures of 45ºC or 105ºF or lower.
