Evening Primrose Oil is derived from the seeds of the Evening Primrose, a wildflower native to Eastern and Central North America, as well as parts of Asia and Europe. Presently cultivated in over 30 countries, its primary purpose is the production of the dietary supplement EPO, with China contributing over 90% of the annual supply. Evening Primrose seeds boast exceptionally high levels of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid also known as "omega-6." The oil contains a minimum of 10% gamma-linolenic acid and 65-85% linoleic acid, which the body converts into GLA.
To preserve its shelf life, Evening Primrose oil should be stored in the refrigerator. When incorporating it into products, consider adding an antioxidant such as Rosemary Oleoresin Extract to safeguard the oil and extend the shelf life of your product.
