Kojic Acid Dipalmitate (KAD) stands as a diesterified derivative of Kojic Acid, surpassing Kojic Acid in its skin-whitening efficacy and exhibiting greater stability in cosmetic formulations.

This compound's ability to inhibit tyrosinase activity enables it to effectively reduce skin pigmentation. It proves particularly adept at lightening dark skin or areas with increased pigmentation. When combined with glucosamine derivatives such as N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG), Kojic Acid Dipalmitate's skin-whitening effects are further enhanced.

Notably, Kojic Acid Dipalmitate demonstrates excellent stability under conditions of heat and light, retaining its original color without undergoing any changes. This stability contributes to its suitability for cosmetic applications, ensuring consistent performance.

Benefits

  • Does not complex with metal ions and will not change color
  • Light and heat stable
  • Compatible with most cosmetic ingredients.

Applications

  • Sunscreens and after-sun products
  • Makeup products
  • Skin lightening products
  • Anti-aging products
  • Creams and lotions

INCI: Kojic Acid Dipalmitate

HOIW TO USE

Kojic Acid Dipalmitate (KAD) can tend to form a crystal precipitate in some cosmetic formulations.  It is recommended to add Isopropyl Palmitate or Isopropyl Myristate to the oil phase containing KAD and heat to 80°C (167°F) and hold for 5 minutes until the KAD dissolves completely. Then add the oil phase to the aqueous phase and emulsify for about 10 minutes. Stable from pH 3 to 10.

Typical usage Percentage:  1 - 5%, typically 3-5% in whitening products
Appearance:  White to almost white crystalline powder
Solubility:   Insoluble in water, soluble in oil.
